A consortium based in the US but open to companies worldwide is ramping up its presence at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this year, moving to establish Z-Wave as the new international standard in wireless controls for the home.
An interactive Z-Wave wireless home is now on show at the event, demonstrating a range of Z-Wave-enabled products and a new fourth-generation Z-Wave chipset.
According to Z-Wave developer, Zensys, the new chipset is “groundbreaking” and will expand the company’s offerings into the consumer electronics market by providing low-cost solutions to meet industry demand.
The Z-Wave alliance added nine new member companies throughout 2007, and is rapidly building momentum, according to Zensys, which is located on booth #20419 at CES.
“There are now more than 200 interoperable products on the market and more than 170 companies representing 18 countries in the Z-Wave Alliance,” said Z-Wave alliance chairman, Mark Walters.
Products using the Z-Wave standard from independent companies revealed this week include:
– Hawking HomeRemote System, a plug-and-play remote home monitoring system
– Three new products from 4HomeMedia – a home health service solution, an integrated media and home control solution, and an end-to-end ‘Home Control Services’ platform
– Universal Electronics will reveal the NevoS70 Complete Solution for Audio Visual and Home Control
– Jasco will launch an informational website for GE Z-Wave Wireless Lighting Controls: easyzwave.com
– Portus is demonstrating a prototype of its new Z-Wave-enabled home monitoring/home control/energy management solution
– Intermatic HomeSettings is holding a live demonstration on how consumers can go ‘green’ in the New Year with home automation.
At the Z-Wave stand, attendees can visit the Interoperability Wall which demonstrates Z-Wave’s interoperability including Z-Wave’s capabilities among remote home management, energy conservation, access and control and home entertainment control in a replicated home featuring products from Alliance members including Techniku, Intermatic, Panasonic, Viewsonic, Jasco/GE, Monster Cable, Lagotek, RCS, Crayon Interface, Wayne-Dalton, 4HomeMedia, Hawking Technologies and more.
