Computer users with a penchant for high-quality audio can now obtain Bang & Olufsen’s BeoLab 4 loudspeakers ($1890), which the company claims deliver “Impeccable sound that is true to the entire audio spectrum”.
It is the first Bang & Olufsen speaker with a dedicated PC mode.
As well as easily plugging into your computer via 3.5mm miniplug, the BeoLab 4 can be used in non-computer audio applications.
It can be used in multiple situations with a wide range of placement options.
BeoLab 4 has a pyramid-shaped design consisting of three curved surfaces and a round aluminium footprint. The two way, versatile loudspeaker system is based on active technology with built in amplification and filtering.
It can adapt its bass performance to the specific placement in the room, as a switch on the speaker can be set to match either a wall mounted position, a corner position or a free standing position to ensure optimum performance.
The BeoLab 4 is described as an ‘intelligent’ loudspeaker due to its claimed ability to automatically adjusts bass according to the volume. It can be adjusted to the signal strength entering via the mini-jack socket that optimises the sound reproduction and facilitates volume adjustment on the PC. Bass is adjusted downwards when the volume is high, to avoid damaging. BeoLab 4 is equipped with other safety circuits. It shuts down if it is played too loudly for too long.
“With the increased popularity in music and gaming, the PC is becoming an entertainment source on its own and now we are able to optimise this experience”, explains Bang & Olufsen’s Lars Myrup.
