Foxconn Sorry For ‘Animal’ Remarks

Taiwanese technology giant Foxconn has issued a public apology after the company’s chief compared the factory’s workers to animals.

Foxconn is currently one of the factories contracted by Apple to assemble its iPhones, and also holds contracts with Sony and Nokia.

Terry Gou, the company’s founder, was the subject of media criticism after he was quoted by Taiwanese media saying “I have a headache how to manage one million animals” during the company’s end of year party in Taipei Zoo.

The company issued a statement apologising to anyone who was offended by the remarks, claiming Gou’s comments were taken out of context by the media.

“Gou is aware that the media reports are misleading and offensive and he apologises to anyone who feels offended. However, Gou did not deliberately slander the workers as some media described,” Now News quoted the comment by Foxconn.

Foxconn has come under heavy fire for its poor working conditions, which are believed to have contributed to the high suicide rate of its employees.
