Apple is getting into the holiday spirit advertising a ‘black Friday sale’ where its products drop down in price for a whole 24 hours, in stores and online.

Every year on the final Friday of November, Apple pulls out a red marker and slashes its prices on its products. Considering the company believes its products are worth every cent of their inflated prices, any official price reduction, no matter how temporary or little, is a big deal.
This year the big day falls on the 25th of November and will have a myriad of people discovering “amazing iPad, iPod and Mac gifts.”
According to Appleinsider, last year’s Black Friday sale saw US prices drop by $101 off its iMac, MacBook Pro and Macbook Air range, $41 off its iPad, $21 off its iPod and $11 off its iPod nano. There were also discounts on Apple accessories, such as wireless base stations and keyboards.
Better yet, on the day local retailers are more inclined to discount the prices of Apple products. Although not official yet, JB HiFi is expected to drop their Apple prices to remain competitive. When asked, a JB HiFi floor manager said “most likely we’ll be matching it. If [the discount] is the same as their student pricing it should be no problem.”
To give an indication, he estimated “a MacBook air is about $50 off.”
It is believed the holiday will see Apple break sale records with many people popping Apple products upon their Christmas gift lists.
In fact, a Neilsen survey found that Apple products filled in the top 3 spots for most desired Christmas gifts for children between the ages of 6-12. The survey, which covered 3,000 US children, revealed 44% wanted an iPad, 30% were after an iPod touch and 27% were after an iPhone.
