A new Samsung Galaxy S4 is tipped to be revealed shortly with the device set to be rolled out via a global road show spanning several continents.Smarthouse understands Samsung will bypass the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) at the end of February in favour of separate events similar to what they did for the launch of the Galaxy S3.
The first launch event is tipped for New York on or around March 22nd.
SmartHouse understands that the new device will have a significantly faster processor, a brand new display screen and the device will be spill and waterproof. There is also speculation that Samsung has eliminated all buttons on the device with all actions via the touch screen.
We have also been told that the new smartphone will feature a new voice engine that allows consumers to talk to the device. In Australia Samsung has been working with Macquarie University linguistic experts to develop new voice recognition technology that allows consumers to use their new Galaxy S4 to talk to a TV or other Samsung device.
Some observers claim the S4 will also have a stylus similar to the Galaxy Note.
“We are going to share the details of the product launch once it’s finally ready and confirmed,” Samsung said in a statement last night.
Samsung earlier this week said it had shipped more than 100 million Galaxy S smartphones since the first one was revealed in 2010. That amount includes 40 million each for the S II and S III models.
At CES 2013 speculation was that the device will have a 4.99-inch screen, up from the 4.8-inch screen of the current Galaxy S III, and will display full, high-definition video.
Samsung’s president of mobile chips, Stephen Woo, revealed a new design for smartphone processors called the Octa, that has eight processing cores, four powerful ones and four that are less powerful for simpler tasks has been developed by the Company. The less-powerful cores take charge during routine functions, consuming less power and extending battery life.
The Galaxy S4 will reportedly be available in two colours, like black and white. It’s also tipped that the device will have wireless charging built in.
