What we have here is a treat for the senses.Dressed in attention-grabbing yellow and red, Monster’s trapezoidal Clarity HDs look fantastic. Most monitors model dull black, which isn’t the colour that comes to mind when you think of music. But the sight of a retro body dressed in bright red or glowing yellow makes you want to up the volume.

Beneath each black grille are an advanced 6.5 inch bass driver and a concave 1 inch tweeter. Traditionally Monster headphones tend to accentuate the bass, but these monitors focus on recreating music playback “the way the artist intended.”
The Clarity HDs achieve this by extracting the quality lost when a song is saved in mp3 format. Given mp3 is the most common format supported by smartphones and mp3 players, the Clarity HDs manage to produce high fidelity sound from devices that tend to discount music quality.

The monitors are progressive in their support for smartphones. Atop of the speaker is an Apple dock compatible with iPhones and iPods, while along its spine resides a generic 3.5mm input, RCA input jacks and Mixer Lines.
