If you have an Android or Windows smartphone you may want to forget about buying the new Holden Barina.
The smallest Holden is set to become the first car in Australia to offer Apple’s Siri “Eyes Free” voice control system despite the fact that more people own an Android or Windows smartphone than an iPhone in Australia.
Drivers with iPhone 4S or later models will be able to use the “Eyes Free” system to make voice-activated calls, compose text messages and add events to their phone’s calendar without taking their hands from the wheel.

Holden plans to offer Siri on its the 2014 Cruze model later this year and also introduce it to the new VF Commodore. It is also expected to show up shortly in Mercedes-Benz’s A-Class hatch model, as well as Honda’s latest Accord, Acura RDX and ILX models.
Apple last year announced that nine carmakers – Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Chrysler, Honda, GM, Jaguar, Land Rover and Toyota – had signed up to use the Siri system in at least some of their vehicles.
Ford, Kia and Hyundai however have turned their backs on Siri, plumping instead for Microsoft voice control systems.
