The Nine Entertainment Co. and Fairfax Media joint venture subscription video on demand service Stan has today announced a content licensing agreement with Viacom International Media Networks.The multi-year agreement “will bring hundreds of hours of Viacom’s hit television programs” to Stan, including kids, comedy, animation and reality series.
The line-up will include children’s programs SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Avatar: The Last Airbender, live-action shows iCarly, VICTORiOUS and Drake & Josh, along with pre-school titles Dora the Explorer, Ni Hao, Kai-Lan and Bubble Guppies.
Other shows set to join Stan under the agreement include South Park, Tosh.O, Awkward and Reno 911!, along with reality TV shows Teen Mom, Geordie Shore, The Hills and 16 & Pregnant.
Competition in the digital content market is set to heat up in early 2015, with Netflix set to land in March and Presto Entertainment, a new subscription video on demand service unveiled last week by joint venture partners Foxtel and Seven West Media, also set to launch.
Stan
has yet to lock in a launch date, although an early 2015 launch would appear likely, while pricing for
the service has yet to be confirmed.

Nickelodeon, MTV and Comedy Central,” Stan director of content and product Nick Forward commented.
