Alcatel’s Phablet And Lifestyle Offerings Continues To Close The Gap

Alcatel have used CES 2017 to unveil both a new 6-inch phablet and a number of lifestyle-focused smart devices that it’ll be bringing to market later in the year.

“Across productivity, wellness and peace of mind
demonstrated by the announcements unveiled at CES, we continue to prove
that you can successfully combine technological innovation with
affordability and accessibility. This will continue to be showcased at
MWC next month, where we will be announcing more flagship devices that
will be introduced to Australian consumers over the course of 2017,”
said Sam Skontos, VP and Regional Managing Director, Alcatel South-east
Asia and Pacific.

While the company remained mum on what would replace the discontinued
Pixi and Pop ranges, they were happy to talk about their latest phablet
on their docket, the Alcatel A3 XL.

Featuring a 6-inch high definition display and enhanced speakers
(powered by Arkamys), Alcatel didn’t pin down too many of the specs for
the A3. However, they did confirm that it’ll pack dual-flash cameras and
a fingerprint recognition feature.

The Alcatel A3 XL will be
introduced in the US in the first quarter of 2017 for under $199, with
Australian availability and pricing to be confirmed shortly.

Alcatel and parent company TCL are also eyeing off a number of other categories this year, namely wearables and security.

The new Moveband promises easy-to-use gesture controls
that’ll allow you to do things like pause music and keep track of
notifications via Bluetooth.

It comes with a range of stylish Italian leather wristband designs and rated IP67 for water and dust-resistance.

The company says the Moveband will be available from March 2017.

Lastly, the Life Home Monitoring Kit will come with a
camera, door and window sensor, motion sensor and the home bridge that
allows the four security devices to connect together. The camera itself
supports a 100-degree angle view, 4x digital zoom, 720p resolution and
two way audio – with the footage being stored on a MicroSD slot.

Controlled using the LIFEAPP (available on both iOS
and Android), the idea is that it offers up a security solution that’s
as simple as it gets when it comes to setup and relatively-inconspicuous
once you’re past that.

The TCL LIFE Home Monitoring Kit will be available worldwide from March 2017.
