Acer has been making Chromebook for several years now but their latest effort, unveiled at this year’s CES in Las Vegas, looks to be making the most of the popularity of the ChromeOS-powered laptops amongst the eduation market.
The Chromebook N7 is as rugged as laptops come, with a design that Acer says allows the unit to survive drops of up to 48-inches. It even comes with a spill-resistant keyboard featuring detachable keys that can be easily cleaned.
Under the hood, it’s packing a Intel Celeron N3060 processor, 4GB of RAM, and either 16GB or 32GB of storage space. Acer say that a full charge will net users bout 12 hours of use, so it’s not too shabby when it comes to battery life either.
According to the company, “Chromebooks have become the de facto standard for education technology in many districts around the country. The new Acer Chromebook 11 N7 (C731) will set the bar even higher for what schools utilize for their classrooms and labs – a durable design, quiet fanless operation and a portable form factor that makes them easy to transport for 1:1 programs, around the classroom, outside and in the lab.”
The Chromebook N7 will be arriving in the US this month at a price of $229.
Australian availability and pricing is yet to be confirmed.
