Dymocks and EMI have teamed up with Acer to offer $100 of free e-books from Dymocks and music content from EMI’s The In Song.
Launching tomorrow, the partnership with Acer delivers Australian content to its latest 10.1 inch Iconia Tab, namely the A500 on Honeycomb, which starts at $579 and is available in 16 GB and 32 GB versions.
Powered by the dual core Nvidia Tegra 2, the A 500 Iconia “ensures an optimal on-screen experience from every angle,” say its makers, while also offering the ultimate mobile tab and provides video and gaming in HD on its 1500:1 multi touch screen.
Acer also had multimedia lovers in mind when building this device and offers extras like 3D online games. It also comes complete with in-built HDMI port and 1080p output capability and Flash support on its Wi-Fi and or 3G device.
And clearly the PC giant is taking no chances with its first tab release, and will be hoping this carrot lures in buyers ahead of rivals like the iPad 2, which has been out since March.
And in another break with the norm, Dymocks is to sell Acer tabs in “selected” stores and via it website, “delivering to customers new ways to engage with books in digital formats.”
“With over 200,000 eBooks on the Dymocks website, our customers will be able to utilise the new Dymocks eBook App for Android with the latest technology from Acer to enjoy books in new and exciting ways,” said Dymocks Chief Executive Officer, Don Grover.
EMI’s Music store The In Song features over 2 million tracks from all the major labels like Universal, Sony and Warner.
“This partnership will allow us to deliver customers with access to home grown content that was previously not available to them,” declared Charles Chung, Acer MD, Australia.
