CNET in the states claim the new tablet will boast a Full HD 1080p screen resolution (1,920×1,080), adopting the high quality image capabilities akin to high end TVs. However, TVs have 40 or so inches to spread the quality pixels, whereas a tablet concentrates the same visual prowess into a device that can be easily manipulated in the hand.
The new screen will likely feature a high pixel density, which ultimately measures how responsive the tablet is to touch gestures.
High end tablets, such as Samsung’s Galaxy 10.1, has a resolution of 1,280×800, while Apple’s iPad 2 has a 1,024×768 resolution. Compared to the current two leading tablets, Acer has come from behind to secure a winning feature.
The tablet will don Google’s open source Android OS, although details on which variant have yet to be revealed. In fact, there is little else known about the phantom tab, which was briefly teased leading up to the CES trade show in Las Vegas.
