After Stuffing Up LCD Bravia Sony To Now Launch 3D TV’s

24 hours after Chinese Company TCL revealed a new 3D TV that can be viewed without glasses; Sony has said that they are set to jump on the 3D bandwagon with new 3D Bravia products set to be rolled out in 2010.

24 hours after Chinese Company TCL revealed a new 3D TV that can be viewed without glasses; Sony has said that they are set to jump on the 3D bandwagon with new products set to be rolled out in 2010.

The Japanese Company who seem to be big on talk but not profits are set to join Panasonic, Samsung and LG in the 3D market.

Speaking at the IFA technology trade show in Berlin, Sir Howard Stringer, Sony’s chief executive who earlier this year was telling journalists that he had never made a profit from selling Bravia LCD TV’s said that Sony’s decision to enter the 3D TV market will give the technology a big boost.

Recently the BBC in the UK along with SKY said that they will launch new 3D TV channels in 2010 despite their being very few 3D TV’s in the market.

Earlier this week Sony who are bleeding billions in losses and are set to announce further losses next month was forced to sell their Mexico TV manufacturing plant in an effort to raise much needed cash.

They also said that they had cut a deal with Chinese Company Hon Hai Precision Industry, to not only buy the factory but to manufacture Sony Bravia TV’s in both China and Mexico.

Stringer said that Sony not only plans not only to sell 3D Bravia television sets, but to make Sony’s Vaio laptop computers, PlayStation3 games consoles and Blu-ray disc players compatible with the technology.

The Financial Times said Mr Stringer is expected to tell the audience: “Today, 3D is clearly on its way to the mass market through technology, distribution and content.”As with high definition a few years back, there are a variety of issues yet to be addressed. But the 3D train is on the track, and we at Sony are ready to drive it home.”
