Aldi will be offering prepaid plans starting from $15 a year and an unlimited plan for $35 a month.
German supermarket chain Aldi will be entering the telecommunications game on the 6th of March. On offer will be two value prepaid plans and a duo of budget prepaid phones.
Light users will gravitate towards AldiMobile’s $15/$30 recharges as they expire after 365 days, have a low 12 cent call rate and don’t charge a connection fee. However most customers will appreciate the Unlimited $35 plan. It has a 30 day validity period, offers unlimited national calls and text and comes with 5GB of internet data.
Whirlpool forum banter indicate AldiMobile will resell Telstra’s network. Online retailer Kogan recently offered his own budget solution which he claims operates on Telstra’s network, albeit not their 4G network. Odds are AldiMobile will do the same, offering customers a vast network limited only by the speed of data transfer.
As identified by AusDroid, AldiMobile is offering two phones: a $20 dual sim feature phone and a $199 4.5″ dual-sim Android smartphone branded Bauhn.
More details (such as international call rates) will be made available following the 6th of March launch, where AldiMobile’s website will presumably revert from the current countdown timer to a full functioning site. Check out the graphic below for more details on AldiMobile’s plans.
