Praised Apple CEO Steve Jobs has stopped his trademark micromanaging style, according to Creative Strategies analyst Tim Bajarin.
The analyst claims his regular communication with Apple executives has revealed Jobs is, at least in the meantime, adopting a more interpersonal management approach as opposed to his signature micromanagement methodologies.
“They tell me he calls in regularly. He talks to Tim [Cook], he talks to the top guys, he talks about the Apple stores.”
“But while he used to micromanage everything in ways that most CEOs would not, right down to issues with the company cafeteria, the big change with his latest leave is that there’s less micromanagement and more management of his executive team and the big-picture issues.”
The leave referred to by Bajarin is Jobs’ medical leave, which is his third and longest yet. With reports emerging that Apple board members are searching for a replacement CEO, Jobs could be modelling the new management style as a way to showcase his company presence.
Or perhaps his consistent and prolonged turn to medical leave has pushed the Apple prodigy to pass on his Apple wits to colleagues, as a safety measure to ensure the company’s future.
Apple’s impeccable brand perception is synonymous with Jobs’ position in the company, and even though Apple stands tall at present, an Apple future without Jobs is one riddled with uncertainties.
