Apple, Foxtel, coupon marketer Groupon and retailers Harvey Norman and the Good Guys are among the most complained about operators named in NSW Fair Trading’s first Complaints Register report.Complaint numbers at this stage are not huge, but the very fact of having been listed appears to be having effect, with Fair Trading
Commissioner Rod Stowe, pictured, saying a number of businesses – so far
not named – have taken steps to reduce the number of complaints and avoid
appearing on the register in future.
The Harvey Norman chain is second on the latest list – behind real estate
operator LJ Hooker – with 29 complains listed; while the rival Good Guys chain
scored 16 complaints.
Apple experienced 13 complaints – six about laptops, six on smartphones and one
concerning a voucher or coupon. It was followed by Foxtel and Groupon with 11
apiece. An outfit called Android Enjoyed scored 18 complaints.
Harvey Norman’s complaints were by no means all related to electronics
equipment: just seven were related to such gear. But at the Good Guys all but
one of the 16 complaints related to electrical, electronic, smartphones or
computer peripherals.
White and Yellow Pages directories publisher Sensis scored 20 complaints about
its publications.
