The Apple Watch is landing in Apple retail stores, with Apple launching a service for Aussie consumers to reserve their order online and then pick it up in-store.As reported by 9to5Mac, the service has launched in Australia and the UK, along with other countries as they change to June 17, allowing shoppers to choose their desired model online before then viewing it in-store and completing the purchase.
Apple’s Australian website now provides the function, asking shoppers if they are interested in buying in-store once their model selection has been made. Should users opt for the in-store option, they can then check availability at their desired store.
“When you make a reservation, we’ll have your Apple Watch waiting at a time and an Apple store that work for you,” the website states. “A specialist will answer questions and help you try it on, so you can be sure you’re getting the right one.”
Apple had confirmed at the beginning of the month that the Apple Watch was set to make its way to retail stores, having launched its first foray into the smartwatch market exclusively online, with Apple since working to clear the backlog of orders.
“All orders placed through May, with the sole exception of Apple Watch 42 mm Space Black Stainless Steel with Space Black Link Bracelet, will ship to customers within two weeks,” Jeff Williams, Apple senior vice president of operations, stated at the time. “At that time, we’ll also begin selling some models in our Apple retail stores.”
