Apple iPad Launch Offically Delayed In OZ

The Australian launch of the iPad has been delayed as tipped by SmartHouse last week, with company executives now claiming that it will be late May or early June before the device is launched into International markets.

The Australian launch of the iPad has been delayed as tipped by SmartHouse last week, with company executives now claiming that it will be late May or early June before the device is launched into International markets.

The move is a blow for Australian retailers who were banking on the device to drive traffic into their stores. It will also impact sales of iPad accessories.
is delaying the worldwide release of the iPad for a month because of heavy demand for the gadget in the US. “Faced with this surprisingly strong US demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May,”
Apple said in a statement.

“Although we have delivered more than 500,000 iPad’s during its first week, demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks.

“We will announce international pricing and begin taking online pre-orders on Monday, May 10,” the California-based company said.

“We know that many international customers waiting to buy an iPad will be disappointed by this news, but we hope they will be pleased to learn the reason – the iPad is a runaway success in the US thus far.”

There is no mention in the Apple statement regarding Wi Fi and start up fixes that Apple were working on following the iPad release in the USA.
