Apple iPhone 5 Release Date Confirmed By CEO

Apple’s iPhone 5 release date has been confirmed by the CEO of a major overseas mobile phone carrier.

The next gen iPhone is said to look like the current iPhone 4
GSMArena report the CEO of France Telecom, Stephane Richards, pinpointed the 15th of October as the new iPhone’s release date. France Telecom is the parent company of Orange.

Stephane let the date slip when speaking to French media, saying “If we believe what we have been told, the iPhone 5 will be released on 15 October.”

What does that mean for Australia you ask? Well, Apple’s traditional business methods indicate that Australia will be getting it anytime within a month after its overseas launch.

The iPhone 4 was launched in the UK and US on the 24th of June, while Australia had to wait a whole week more before it graced our pockets.

As a release date, the 15th does have some credence behind it, as Apple is releasing its Gold Master iOS 5 on September 23rd, just ahead of the next iPhone.

The iPhone 5 is said to inherit the iPhone 4’s exterior (although a larger screen made possible through a finer bezel) and 512MB of RAM. Little else is known about the device.
