Apple iPhone 5 To Undergo Radical Revision: Analyst

Apple’s iPhone 5 is expected to undergo a radical cosmetic change if one analyst’s predictions come to fruition. The sixth gen iPhone is believed to feature a unibody casing, conforming to the standard set by Apple in its iPad, iMac and MacBook range.

Analyst Brian J White of Topeka Capital Markets also infers the new iPhone will feature a 4 inch screen and 4G LTE connectivity, (bear in mind the 4G technology could suffer from the same Australian incompatibility as Apple’s new iPad.)

White claims production of the new iPhone will commence in June and bases his assessment on a recent visit of Chinese and Taiwanese suppliers.

In a note to investors, White wrote:

“In our view, this will be the most significant iPhone upgrade with a four-inch screen and a new, sleek look that we believe will require a Unibody case.

“This new, sleek look will be the most important reason that consumers decide to upgrade.”

If correct, this will be the first Apple iPhone to sport a screen bigger than 3.5 inches, fragmenting Apple’s uniform application support.

In November of 2011, a source claiming the late Steve Jobs threw a redesigned iPhone out of production because it featured a bigger screen and undermined Apple’s application philosophy.

Although a bigger screen was taboo to Jobs, new-boy Tim Cook might think it’s just what Apple needs.
