Apple Keeping Dual Camera Exclusive To Plus-Sized Phones

While the removal of the headphone jack seems certain to overshadow it, one notable of the more notables new features that Apple have added to their smartphone lineup is the iPhone 7 Plus’ dual-camera.

However, according to industry analysts, it’s a feature that’s set to stay with the Plus-sized handsets for the time being.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that “While an attractive addition for avid picture takers and professional photographers, the iPhone 7 Plus dual-camera is not a mass-market killer application yet.”

“Along with its high cost (estimated at over US$30-40) and the necessity for Apple to enhance the added value of high-end iPhone models, we expect only high-end new iPhone models (30-40% of them) to have a dual-camera next year.”

Kuo previously predicted not only the existence of Apple’s AirPods but also many details concering the W1 chip they utilise.

As far as Apple rumors go, this one seems entirely believable. While many leading smartphone companies are producing enhanced camera upgrades these days, it is a very high-end specialist feature that not all users want.

Even if, as suggested, Apple have some major hardware revisions on the cards for the next iPhone (to coincide with the device’s 10th anniversary) it looks like a dual camera won’t be one of them.
