Apple Mac Problems For Tax Office

Apple users will have to wait yet another year before they are able to lodge their tax returns via their Macs. The Australian Taxation Office’s electronic tax filing service, e-Tax, failed to iron out problems in time for Mac users, reports the Australian Financial Review.

The ATO is aiming to provide a Mac-compatible version in time for the 2013 tax year.

ATO head of IT David Butler told the AFR that the ATO had tried “very, very hard” to have the Apple product ready for this tax year, but could not resolve security and usability issues.

The Tax Office began offering e-Tax on Windows PCs in 1999.
