Australian retailers are rubbing their hands in anticipation after Apple said that they have sold 1 million iPads 28 days after launching the product in the USA. Not on sale yet in Australia the device is tipped to be launched late in May 2010 with carriers already touting 3G enabled iPads.
Apple said that it sold its 1 millionth iPad on Friday. By comparison, it took the company 74 days to sell that many iPhones.
“Demand continues to exceed supply and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers,” said Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
Since the iPad’s introduction on April 3, users of the device have downloaded more than 12 million apps and 1.5 million e-books.
