Apple has slapped HTC with a patent infringement lawsuit that saw the world Number 5 phone manufacturer’s share price tumble by 4 per cent on the very same day.
Reuters report the latest complaint Apple filed with the US trade panel concerns HTC’s ‘unspecified portable devices and software’, which by no stretch of the imagination is HTC’s range of smartphones.
This is not the first time Apple have lawyered up against the smaller Taiwanese brand filing a separate action against them last year, with preliminary rulings due out this week.
Since HTC announced its plan to acquire S3 Graphics last Wednesday, concerns over corporate governance has caused the company’s shares top drop by more than 13 per cent.
With HTC exceeding financial forecasts for the fifth consecutive quarter, its expanding market growth and its increase in consumer awareness, Apple’s legal qualm just might blemish its impeccable reputation.
