Apple Watch Set To Land In Retail Stores Within Weeks

The Apple Watch is set to hit retail stores within weeks, with Apple having confirmed some models will begin selling in its stores as it works to clear its backlog of online orders. With Apple having commenced online pre-orders of the Apple Watch at the beginning of April, with the first deliveries going out towards the end of April, some models will now begin finding their way to retail shelves for in-store purchase.

Apple has additionally confirmed that the Apple Watch will become available in Italy, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland and Taiwan beginning June 26.

Jeff Williams, Apple senior vice president of operations, stated that the Apple Watch has surpassed Apple’s “expectations in every way”.

“We’re also making great progress with the backlog of Apple Watch orders, and we thank our customers for their patience,” Williams stated.

“All orders placed through May, with the sole exception of Apple Watch 42 mm Space Black Stainless Steel with Space Black Link Bracelet, will ship to customers within two weeks. At that time, we’ll also begin selling some models in our Apple retail stores.”

The wearables market has experienced strong growth thus far in 2015, with the Apple Watch’s impact a keen area of focus for market observers. Ramon Llamas, IDC research manager, wearables, this week noted that the Apple Watch “will likely become the device that other wearables will be measured against, fairly or not”.
