ASR’s integrated amplifiers are best described as a main amplifier with input selector and level control. The ASR range consists of two series of integrated units the Emitter I and II, plus the Mini Basis and Basis Exclusive pre-amps.

High-quality transformers are housed in a separate case in order to eliminate the electro-magnetic fields and vibrations from the amplifier. This is an essential precondition for the calm and relaxing sound picture of the ASR Emitter.
Michael Framer (of US magazine “Stereophile”) describes ASR as “among the most neutral-sounding pieces of audio gear I have ever heard. It bridged the gap between tubes and solid-state as has no other piece of electronics in my experience.”
Harry Pearson (founder of “The Absolute Sound”) simply put it “Revolution in a Black Box”.
Friedrich Schaefer, owner and head of development at ASR, has a very definite idea of how an amplifier should sound: “musical reproduction should be completely homogeneous and natural. ASR has only one goal: combining the harmony and musicality of a superb tube amplifier with the accuracy and effective power distribution of modern transistor amplifiers.”
