Asus’ G20 compact gaming desktop, released under its Republic of Gamers brand, is making its way to the Australian market.Housed in a 12.5 litre case, and featuring a matte-black finish design with Mayan-inspired markings and customisable lighting effects, the G20 runs on Windows 8.1, can be powered by up to a 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor, and comes with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 745 graphics card for “unstoppable gaming and home entertainment”.
Asus states the GeForce graphics enable the G20 to “deliver immersive visuals” in WQHD 2560 x 1440 resolution, allowing games to be run at their highest settings on up to four monitors, and providing support for Nvidia 3D Vision Surround for an added dimension to gaming.
The G20 draws as little as 20 W in Eco Energy Mode at idle, while it can also function as a home server with Intel Ready Mode technology, drawing 10 W.
SonicMaster audio “takes advantage of a unique mix of audio hardware and tuning software to bring gamers right into the fight”, while AudioWizard sound processing provides an additional layer of audio enhancement, with up to five customisable modes designed to be easily accessed on the fly.
The Aegis application provides real-time performance monitoring, letting users track CPU and memory usage, as well as internet download and upload status, while temperature and voltage thresholds can be set for the system to maintain and monitor automatically.
The G20 will be sold in Australia with a free full-version game, with consumers able to choose from either Assassin’s Creed Unity or Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry, and will be available from December from Harvey Norman, Bing Lee, Leading Edge Electronics and Radio Rentals.
