Asus Windows 8 ‘VivoTab’ Is a Pricey Hit

At $1099 this Asus is asking a lot.
However, it does have 11.6 inch HD screen (2″ bigger than the iPad), Windows 8, 1.8GHz Intel Atom dual-core processor and doubles as a notebook with its (included) keyboard dock.

Branded the “premium slimline tablet” it is designed for the business user willing to dig deep for the perfect tablet, running Microsoft’s new Windows 8.

The Asus is light 8.7mm thin and weighs 675g.

The VivoTab 810 has a Mobile Dock with a full keyboard and when connected, the tablet transforms into a notebook, a design Asus has advocated before with Transformer Pad.

The mobile dock has a built-in battery promising “up to” 19 hours’ use.

Other specs of note include: quad speakers with ASUS SonicMaster, 8-megapixel camera, in-built mic, 2GB RAM, 32GB ASUS WebStorage for 3 years, Wacom digitizer stylus,WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0.

The VivoTab’s 11.6 touch display boasts HD resolution with bright Super IPS+ technology–which makes it good to use outdoors–and is scratch proof.

The VivoTab 810 is available from JB HiFi, Harvey Norman and Dick Smith and ASUS resellers for RRP of AUD$1099 and is sold with the Wacom stylus and mobile keyboard dock.
