Aussies Who ‘Can’t Live Without Smartphone’ Now Number 45PC

Some 45 percent of Australian smartphone owners aged 14 or over say that they “can’t live without” their mobile, new Roy Morgan Research data reveals.

The research, for the 12 months to March 2016, shows that the majority of smartphone owners agree they need a smartphone to help them juggle work and personal life (63 percent); for their personal security (59pc); and to help coordinate their social lives (54pc).

Some 44 percent of smartphone owners say they need the device when travelling overseas, while 41 percent need to be contactable at all times for work, and 36 percent agree they need it to give them more control over their lives.

Among Apple owners, 50pc can’t live without their iPhones, with Samsung (42pc), HTC (43pc) and LG (45pc) smartphone owners not too far behind, followed by Nokia (34pc), Sony (37pc) and Huawei (37pc). – Channel News
