Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates has given the Company he heads a big server over the poor performance of the Company in the consumer market.Gates has said that he he is not satisfied with innovation at the company, including its mobile products. He said that Microsoft had failed to “get out in the lead very early” in the mobile market, labeling the way the company developed its mobile products later than others as “clearly a mistake.”
Charlie Rose of CBS This Morning asked Gates if he is happy with current Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer’s performance, to which Gates claimed that he and Ballmer were “two of the most self-critical people you can imagine.” While he praised Ballmer’s leadership during the release of Windows 8 and the Surface, as well as changes to Bing and the Xbox 360 game console, he continued “Is it enough? No, he and I are not satisfied that in terms of, you know, breakthrough things, that we’re doing everything possible.”
Gates also talked about his philanthropic efforts, explaining that he is most interested in innovation, be it in energy generation or in education, and that his charitable work relies heavily on data feedback to measure the effectiveness of various projects.
