Breville Says Class At iF Design Awards

Breville has once again proven that with good design you’ll go a long way, this time coming away from the iF Product Design Awards 2008 with a handful of accolades for its Professional 800 Collection of small appliances, including the BES820 Espresso Machine and two upcoming toasters.

Recognised worldwide as a seal of fine design quality and an indicator of the latest design trends, the iF Product Design Awards 2008 received 2771 product entries from 35 different countries.

Of these entries, the BES820 Espresso Machine (RRP $599.95), based on the successful 800ES Espresso Machine which has already received various numerous international design awards, won an award in its category, as did the soon-to-be launched 2 slice toaster model BTA820 (RRP $129.95) and the 4 slice version BTA840 (RRP $179.95).

The BES820 Espresso Machine launched in November. It is pitched at coffee-lovers who desire control over making their espresso. The programmable feature means they can program their dose volume and the pressure gauge gives feedback so they can perfect grind and tamping.

The BTA820 and BTA840 toasters represent a “major technological advancement in the toaster category”. The motorised toasters were developed from research into people’s common problems with toasters which led to the development of two new features – motorised Lift & Look and A Bit More. Lift & Look allows the user to check the toast by raising it without interrupting the toasting cycle.

“iF is an internationally renowned organisation that has been honouring forward-thinking design for over 50 years,” said Breville director, design and innovation, Richard Hoare.

“It’s an impressive accolade for the Breville design team to be recognised by such a respected organisation.

“The Professional 800 Collection is the epitome of true performance and style in the kitchen. Each appliance in the collection is made with premium materials, undergoing extensive research and rigorous testing to ensure it performs consistently.”

One press of the A Bit More button will toast bread just that little bit more if the toast comes up lighter than the user prefers.
