Cluedo Now On DVD

Hasbro has put a smart new twist on the old-fashioned pleasure of sitting down to a board game with family or friends.

The company has released a new interactive Cluedo DVD game which is a far cry from the original 1949 cardboard and plastic version that we all know.

The new Cluedo DVD is based on the original Cluedo game. If it’s been a while since you’ve played, the gist is that it’s a murder mystery game where you have to work out which character committed the murder in which room and with which weapon. Think “Miss Scarlett in the kitchen with the candlestick.”

The difference in playing the new game is that the DVD (which comes in addition to the regular board game and set pieces) takes you inside Tudor Mansion, so you can meet the characters face-to-face and explore all the rooms and secret passageways in the house. There are also three new characters, ‘Lady Lavender’, ‘Rusty’ and ‘Mrs Meadow-Brook’, in addition to all the old favourites such as Miss Scarlett and Colonel Mustard.

Another change is that as well as solving ‘who’, ‘what’ and ‘where’, you also have to solve what time of day the crime took place. An additional challenge is that you will be penalized for accusing someone incorrectly. But, you do get the help of Inspector Brown from Scotland Yard and Ashe the Butler, who turn up on screen to help you solve the mystery.

The game is suitable for ages 10 and up.
