COMPUTEX 2012: Samsung ‘Hybrid’, Asus ‘Taichi’ Tabs Open Windows8

Here come the Windows Tabs: Samsung has just unveiled hybrid tabs and a convertible laptop at Computex, Taipei, as did Asus earlier today.
The 11.6″ Samsung ‘Series 5’ and ‘Series 7’ Hybrid PC – are a take on the Asus Eee Transformer an offer the users the best of both worlds – a tablet and laptop device  – and come with a detachable keyboard.

And the Hybrid Tabs run Windows 8 – Microsoft hybrid tablet, smartphone and PC OS, which it hopes will reinvigorate its computer business – and have Intel chips inside.

Samsung say the Hybrids are still in development and didn’t give a release date, although are expected to be launched later this year, as W8 is finally released, according to PC World.

Samsung also displayed its laptop come tablet device called Notebook Series 5 Ultra Convertible, which can be transformed into a tablet – thanks to its 360 degree hinge.

And like the Hybrids, the Ultra Convertible Samsung has an Intel Core i7 processor.

Meanwhile, Asus also unveiled new hybrids type tabs -the hot new trend in computing – following from its successful Transformer PC, released in Australia recently.

But Asus dared to be a bit bit more different with Taichi, a notebook (with the portability of an ultrabook) with dual screens front and rear, thus the outer screen is like the complementary tablet to the main device.

The two screens can operate independently – ideal for busy multi taskers – and as its name suggests is flexible and comes in 11.6- and 13.3 screen options.

Taichi’s outer screen is touch based, while the inner display works is commanded by the keyboard. And like the Samsung’s it will be powered by Intel Core processor family.
