The Wii U benefits from some fundamental improvements. The current Wii isn’t compatible with high definition games, limiting the consoles appeal to serious gamers who value immersive graphics and captivating narratives. The Wii U will see Nintendo catch up to Sony and Microsoft as it will be compatible with Full HD 1080p games.
Other significant contributions are lined on the 6.2 inch touch-screen remote control. Along with enlisting the sense of touch in gameplay, the screen can replicate game footage when a TV is off or in use by someone else.
The controller also features a front facing camera, in built speakers, a 3.5 (aux) input, NFC chip, conventional D-pad and two joysticks.
Nintendo has committed to making the Wii U backwards compatible, choosing to remain faithful to customers who invested in games for the original Wii console.
The company is also the first to announce its next generation console. Sparse rumours of a new PlayStation 4 or Xbox 720 have been circulating, but neither Sony nor Microsoft has confirmed any of them.

The Christmas season is a peak time for gaming manufacturers as they generate almost half of their yearly sales within the season period. In fact, retailer JB HiFi has already put the Nintendo Wii U up on its website for pre order, although the company has yet to determine its price.
