As demand for Smartphone’s soar, Australians are looking for equally smart communication technology in the home, including follow me technology that links Smartphone’s with cordless phones, SMS and email capability from home phones and VOIP handsets claims executives from German Company Gigaset Communications who recently appointed a new distributor in Australia.

Contributing to the demand for smarter home phones is a move by executives to work part of their week from home new research from Deloitte reveals.

Gigaset whose products are sold through Harvey Norman is set to launch a brand new handset, called the DX800A that has several new capabilities not seen before in a cordless phone.

The new Gigaset offering is an all in one multiline desktop phone that is described as ideal for home offices and small business especially business executives working from home who also want to lock into VOIP technology, as well as access to contact information, SMS messaging that is delivered by a head up colour display.

“Retailers are now in a position to take advantage of new products coming into the home phone and small business market by stepping the ranges that they sell” said David McKean, Country Manager for Gigaset Communications.
“What we are selling is a German made and developed range that delivers superior communication capability in the home. We believe that this is a growth market as we are able to deliver distinct benefits for users who are hungry for good communication from both their home phone and Smartphone” he added.

A hybrid the Gigaset DX800A is an all in one home phone that can be configured to either IP with ISDN, or IP with fixed line.

Because it’s a multiline phone it can support up to 4 parallel calls and expand with multiple handsets – up to 6 in total. Managing contacts is easy with up to 1,000 vCard entries. McKean said that with its range of energy-saving features and radiation-free mode, this telephone is better for the environment. It also has three integrated answering machines with a combined recording time of up to 55 minutes”. This is ideal when multiple messages are being left for different people” he added.

Made by Gigaset Communications the German Company that was originally a division of Siemens the new phone will be available shortly in Australia via CommsPlus Distribution a division of Plant Industries.

The Plant Industries Group operates Samsung Communications and BTC Direct. They are also distributors for Samsung, Panasonic, Kirk, Plantronics and Jabra communication gear.

“Gigaset is establishing itself as a premium brand in Australia with unique products that are all “Made in Germany”. The Gigaset brand will become synonymous with quality and reliability and I am confident that we can deliver for retailers and carriers a range of phones that will appeal to users in business and in the home especially as the Australian cordless voice market is growing” McKean said.
