Because Dell, who recently won several major contracts to supply Australian education departments with notebooks and are the service provider to the NSW education deparments roll out of technology in schools program, have some neat little tricks up their sleeve to nobble the odd facebook or twitter addict.
Despite being colourful the Dell notebooks for schools now include a “network activity light” on the lid that alerts teachers when the odd Twitter is taking place.
The users of the Dell notebooks which have been described by the UK web site The Regiser, as for clumsy, snot-nosed germ-factories affectionately known as school children will also have to put up with an antimicrobial keyboard, rubberised kickball-like exterior, and the special “network activity light”.
The guts of the machine are common netbook fare.
