Internode has launched a thirty-day trial offer for its FetchTV product in a desperate bid to lure users to its IPTV service. Internode say the move is following “customers feedback,” although ensuring zero leakage to rivals Optus is a far more likely motive behind the move.

“We’ve learned that some of you like the look of FetchTV, but are just a tad unsure about taking on a 24 month subscription commitment,” Adelaide based Internode wrote on its blog on Friday.
This comes just days after Internode slashed its prices of FetchTV ‘full’ and ‘lite’ service by one third.
So what does a FetchTV set top box even offer, anyway?
You need an ADSL2+ Internet connection for the IPTV service, which delivers streamed subscription type channels like MTV, National Geographic, Al Jazeera English, Fox Sports and News, Man United TV (on ‘full’ service), movies on demand, and as well as the normal free-to-air channels like ABCs, Seven, Ten and Nine.
“We know how good the service is, but there is no substitute for seeing it for real,” Internode added.

So how does the freebie trial work?
Take up a new 24 month contract for a FetchTV service (full or lite) and after 30 days, if you decide to get rid of it, then you can cancel the service and promptly return the supplied equipment to Internode without early termination penalties applying.
But it must be within the 30 day period and teh box must be in ‘resalable’ condition with its original packaging.
In the first instance, this trial applies for all new 24 month subscriptions undertaken from now until Christmas Day December 25th.
“If the trial goes well, we will consider extending it,” say Internode.
