Embarrassing Backdown For Scandal Riddled Toshiba After Product Launch Pulled

In an embarrassing move scandal riddled Toshiba has been forced to pull the launch of a brand new wearable device that was already in production.

In Japan overnight Toshiba confirmed that they have scrapped the sale of a glasses-type wearable device just six weeks after announcing the new product.

The Wearvue TG-01 was supposed to be used by workers in warehouses and or factories who needed a hands-free way to look at information such as manuals or work lists.

Toshiba said on Jan. 13 that it would start shipping on Feb. 29 to customers who placed online orders.

A spokesperson said the company was forced to withdraw because its rebuilding initiative, released in December, calls for Toshiba to focus its resources selectively.

The Company who is also looking at a partnership with Fujitsu and Vizio to produce notebooks is struggling revive itself by spinning off some noncore businesses and cutting thousands of jobs, after an accounting scandal exposed the company’s fragile business portfolio last year.

Earlier this month, Toshiba said it would record the biggest annual loss in its 140-year-old history. In Australia Toshiba management who normally love voicing their opinion have gone remarkably quiet.

Toshiba also cancelled sales of a more expensive model of its smart wrist device in early February, as it restructures its health-care business. The company has put its medical-systems business, which makes X-ray machines and other types of scanners, up for sale.
