Espial Web-For-TV Browser: Smart TV Without Forking Out

Espial new TV browser works on Smart TVs, set-top boxes and digital media players.

The handy browser provides web search, news, sports, weather and games ‘portals’ as well as video-on-demand, allows you to get internet TV without forking out for a pricey screen. 

Popular sites like Yahoo, Google, YouTube, Daily Motion, Picasa, ESPN as well as the social networks Facebook, Twitter grant access through the web enabling device. 
 The device works on Smart TVs, digital media adapters, IP set-top boxes and other devices including wireless handhelds and delivers a “PC-like web browsing experience” with applications, widgets, video, HTML5 and Adobe Flash 10.1. 
It also support more than 25 + languages including Arabic, European, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and compatible with wide range of devices globally. 
Based on the ‘WebKit’ core engine used by both Google Chrome’s browser and Apple’s Safari to support for evolving web content and optimized to industry chipsets including Toshiba, Intel, Sigma, STMicro and Linux, Wind River, and Microsoft OS. 
“We’re pleased to bring the full web experience to Smart TV consumers across the globe” stated Dilshan De Silva, Director Browser Products, Espial. 
 “The Espial TV Browser, based on WebKit, provides connected TVs with a complete web and video experience including Flash 10.1 and HTML5 support.” 
 

 Its Canadian makers say the device is shipping commercially now and visitors to IBC 2011 in Amsterdam can see the TV browser in action at the Espial TV booth (A18) in Hall 5.
