When ones wife walks in and says “Gee that’s a nice monitor,” you know that it has something going for it particularly as she is an interior designer and project manager who works on some really edgy projects and normally has no interest in the design of computers or monitors.

Inspiration for the design came from the US stealth bomber claims BenQ. Out of the box this monster is impressive. Sitting on a neat sculptured stand the screen rotates backwards and forward with ease. Looking at the screen head on one sees a thin shiny black bevelled edge with a neat aluminium backdrop that protrudes at the bottom in a stylish design to incorporate the touch button controls for the screen. This is discreet and allows easy access to the controls unlike a lot of monitors that either have the controls on the top or in a position where it is not easy to reach and touch them.
Part of a new Kinergy Design range from BenQ the screen was slow to warm up out of the box and at first I struggled to obtain maximum clarity. However after a few minutes the image was crystal sharp.
One irritating problem is the touch button controls housed at the bottom left of the screen. They have function keys for going right and left however there are no visible keys for up and down which is probably more about design than functionality. The up down key is in fact the enter key however this was not explained in the documentation we received from BenQ and when one used this key the action was not instantaneous with one having to hit the button more than once on occasions.
The screen which is 21 percent slimmer than the next thinnest LCD monitor has a 4000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and a new RHCM injection process, and full 1080p HD support. It also has five preset modes including Dynamic, Photo, Standard, Movie, and sRGB this allows one to simplify optimised viewing at the touch of a button.
It is NSTL-compliant for superior colour precision consistent from monitor to printer to digital camera to any visual device and incorporates BenQ’s Advanced Motion Accelerator technology (AMA) for super-fast 2ms GTG response time. According to BenQ the torque and friction between the metallic parts of the hinge were precisely calculated so that the right-sided stand can safely support the 24″ widescreen and also provide the flexibility to adjust viewing angles.
The V2400W’s streamlined curve is made possible by advanced rapid heat cycle moulding (RHCM) injection technology which enables new shapes and designs to be moulded to meet new design criterias.
Overall this is a very impressive monitor and so is the price at $699. It looks brilliant on a desk and delivers crisp clean vision at several settings which does not surprise me from a Company like BenQ who also make excellent notebook and TV screens.
The only irritation is the up down button and I am sure BenQ will get the message and fix this problem.
