Fast And Social: Xbox One Update Details Revealed

Microsoft has provided a number of details as to what Xbox One users can expect from its November update – which it states will deliver the “fastest and most social Xbox experience ever”.The update will see the Xbox One powered by Windows 10, which Microsoft states will deliver gaming features up to 50 per cent faster, while among the notable changes set to be introduced is backward compatibility – users’ most requested feature – for over 100 Xbox 360 games.

In addition to the initial Xbox 360 titles to be added, Microsoft states hundreds more will be added in the coming months.

Other updates include a new guide, providing users with quick access to various settings and features without leaving their game, while the Home screen has been redesigned, “introducing a faster and easier interface”, providing users access to recently used games and apps.

“At launch you’ll be able to more easily share your achievements and game clips with the Xbox Live community, see whether your friends are playing the same games, and get one-click access to Game Hubs to get news and updates directly from the developers and community themselves,” Mike Ybarra, Xbox director of program management, stated via a blog post.

A new Community section will be introduced, designed to make Xbox One more social, with a redesigned OneGuide to provide a single destination for TV, movies and video apps, while the Store has been optimised to help users find the content they’re after quickly.

The update is set to be rolled out to preview members ahead of an early November launch. Microsoft states new builds will regularly rollout over several weeks for those who opt in.
