The TouchWiz user interface implemented on the Android 3.1 platform, brings “superior multi-tasking and enhanced user interaction and navigation.”

The 10.1 inch Tab  will be available before Christmas from Harvey Norman, JB HiFi, Good Guys, Myer, Bing Lee and Office Works, Samsung confirmed today.

However, no word from retailers, so far, as to when exactly this mystery date will be.

There is “no exact launch date set,” yet, a Samsung spokesperson told SmartHouse today. However, e-tailer Ruslan Kogan has already began selling the Android device online on ‘special’ for $498 + delivery. Vodafone and Optus will also sell Tab 10.1, according to reports.

And Samsung are also throwing in a host of content freebies – including one free month trial of Music Hub streaming service.

It is also offering exclusive pre-loaded content for kids including, ABC Reading Eggs, Magshop Digital Newsstand app offering 52 titles like Cleo, Good Food, Dolly, Wheels and OK! and users can also browse some titles for free.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 also includes Social Hub – a single interface that aggregates email, instant messaging, contacts, calendar and social network connections.

“Much anticipated by Australian consumers, the GALAXY Tab 10.1 is testament to Samsung’s dedication to innovation in designing a premium tablet which accommodates the unique needs of consumers today, from entertaining, e-learning or business through its powerful multi-tasking and web-browsing experience,” said Tyler McGee, Samsung’s VP of Telecommunications in Australia.

“With content exclusive to our device, we believe the GALAXY Tab 10.1 is a new class of product that will lead the tablet market.”

It also offers free PressReader app – 2,000 newspapers from 95 countries, including 150+ Australian titles alone including SMH and The Australian, presented in their original context and are often available before the printed editions.

Enterprise wise, Samsung’s Tab includes mobile solutions from Cisco, Sybase, SAP and Citrix, to help business users work while on-the-move.
