Forget Apple, ‘Google Store’ To Hit 2013

First, Apple, Samsung now Google is gearing up to open its own stores.

“An extremely reliable source” has confirmed to 9to5 Google site that it is the process of building stand-alone Google Stores and hopes to have the first open in metro areas in the U.S “for the holidays.”

“The mission of the stores is to get new Google Nexus, Chrome, and especially upcoming products into the hands of prospective customers,” according to the site.

“Google feels right now that many potential customers need to get hands-on experience with its products before they are willing to purchase.”

No word on G Stores going global but if successful, we could even see a few down under.

And as the maker of Android platform, it has plenty to show off – from Nexus 4 smartphones, Nexus tablets, Chromebooks and Google TV and its pet project Google Glass.

The Google Store will operate independently and make direct sales to customers like the Apple Store, and will give the Google brand a major leg up with a retail presence and also let it showcase its quirky personality to consumers with a Google experience.

Google already has demo kiosks in areas like San Francisco airport.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard whispers about Google Store and there is already has a Chromezone in London Dixons retailer.

The tech giant isn’t the only one ramping up its retail empire.

Samsung too is accelerating its retail empire and set to make an announcement about its store strategy in Australia early next month, a spokesperson told SmartHouse this week.
