Fujitsu Unveils Ultrabook Rival Lifebook SH771

Fujitsu has just released its thinnest 13 inch feature-laden notebook to retailers, competing with the rising slate of thin Ultrabooks hitting the market.
The new notebook model, the Lifebook SH771, sports Fujitsu’s slimmest and lightest profile in the 13.3-inch category, weighing in at 1.22kg with its magnesium alloy body.

The Lifebook SH771 was recently unveiled in the Asian market alongside competing Intel chip-powered notebooks like Toshiba’s new Ultrabooks.

While the SH771 may not be as thin as an Ultrabook, it makes up for it with a slew of connectivity options and high battery life closer to that of a conventional notebook.

Connectivity options like HDMI output and a mix of USB 2.0 and high-speed USB 3.0

Connectivity includes HDMI, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, and the battery can push out a max of 9.5 hours life.

There are three models on the Australian market, with prices ranging from steep to steeper. At the shallow end is an Intel Core i5-powered model with a 640GB hard drive and 8GB of RAM for $2188.

Touchpad includes fingerprint scanner and a unique finger pad for scrolling

The two i7 models are tipped at $2588 with the same 8GB of RAM but a choice between a 750GB hard disk drive or 128GB solid state disk for optimum storage performance.

To put these in perspective, the recent Asus Zenbook runs in prices ranging from $1,599 to $1,999 and sports similar connections like micro HDMI and USB 3.0 while sitting in a thinner, lighter body.  They pack in half the memory, though the top model has a larger solid state disk than the Lifebook. The Zenbook has lower battery life, but also has a brighter screen at 450 nits versus the Lifebook’s 300 nits.
