A buzz has already been created with the (estimated) arrival in January of Cambridge Audio’s Fusion – an iPod accessory set to give the market a shake-up.

Fusion is a speaker system that is not only iPod compatible but can connect to almost any music format available. It packs quite a bit of punch with its 30-Watt 2.1 channel amp, plus there are connections for USBs and SD cards.
Add to that the ability to play MP3 and WMA files (and it doesn’t matter what storage medium they are on), plus FM and DAB tuners, as well as a slot-loading CD player and you can see why Australian distributor Synery Audio Visual is already fielding calls about the unit.
It is the little things it does right that are making people sit up and take a look, such as it s energy-efficient display that can be dimmed, plus it uses three-way binding posts for speaker connections rather than spring clips.
Selling for three hundred pounds in the UK means it will probably retail for under $1,000 here, but the local distributor has yet to set a price.
