Samsung is set to launch their new Android Galaxy Tablet in mid August with components that are very similar to those found in the iPad.
According to sources, Apple’s A4 chip is rumoured to have been based on Samsung’s Hummingbird Cortex A8 design while the flash memory and the 9.7-inch display panel found in the iPad is made by Samsung.
Samsung will be the first PC manufacturer since Apple unveiled its popular iPad device, to launch a tablet PC that is an extension of the Galaxy S mobile brand name.
The Android-based tablet will, according to sources in Korea, have a 1.2GHz processor, backed up by 16GB of storage on the basic model and up to 64GB on the top end model, it will also have Wi Fi micro 3G and a HDMI and USB port.
Samsung is looking for the same success as their Galaxy S smartphone is getting.
If Samsung does launch in August, as tipped, they will have stolen a march on rivals such as HP, Toshiba and LG, who showed their version last week in Sydney.
