Google Calls FCC To Approve Loon

In its latest licence application, Google has told the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that its plans to send balloons to the sky to beam Internet connections worldwide are safe.

Google says a unit developing Project Loon, its floating Internet platform announced in June 2013, have successfully tested the system across the world and now it wants to develop the machines over American skies. 

However the FCC has been receiving complaints about the plan, mostly from people worried about radio-frequency (RF) exposure, not to mention fiery balloons descendng on theirproperty.

In the new filing, Google said its experiments would result in a lower RF exposure rate than that which is currently allowed. 

Loon operates well within the guidelines set for power and emissions standards, it said, and those worried about RF exposure have nothing to fear.
