Sony has suffered yet another cyber-attack, with its PlayStation Network this time the target of hackers.Sony said its PlayStation Network and Sony Entertainment Network had been disrupted by hackers in a distributed denial-of-service attack, with its systems now back online and investigations into the cause of the disruption being undertaken, Reuters has reported.
Reuters reported Sony said users faced difficulty accessing the PlayStation Network between 8:52 am and 11:18 am Tokyo time on Monday.
Sony spokeswoman Jennifer Clark told Reuters the company has not received any report of user information being stolen.
The attack comes in the wake of a cyber-attack on Sony Pictures Entertainment last month, with Sony now dealing with the ongoing fallout after it emerged hackers gained access to sensitive information, including passwords.
Following the attack, a number of Sony movies also began to appear online on file sharing websites, with the World War II film “Fury”, starring Brad Pitt, among the movies leaked.
Sony’s PlayStation Network has been a frequent target of hackers. In 2011, it was the subject of an attack, with 77 million users’ account data compromised, while in August of this year hackers again forced the network to go down.
