Hair Washing Robot Revealed By Panasonic

Japanese Company Panasonic has revealed an eight fingered hair washing robot that replicates the hands of a human.

Designed for hairdressing salons the device has been specifically designed for an aging population of older women who still like to go to the hairdresser every week. The new device has two robotic arms that scan the head three-dimensionally at the beginning of the process. It then measures and record the shape in order to determine the precise amount of pressure in the correct locations.
Each of the robotic arms is fitted with eight “fingers” and three motors that independently control the motion and pressure of the massage movements.
“The hair-washing robot was developed to fill the needs of workers at hospitals and health care facilities,” said a spokesman for Panasonic, which is unveiling a prototype of the robot at the 37th International Home Care & Rehabilitation Exhibition in Tokyo according to the UK Daily Telegraph.
“Studies among them revealed their dilemma that they cannot attend to each and every request of the patients, such as shampooing, as it will add another task to the workers who are already burdened with many tasks.”
