HTC Desire 820 To Launch With Optus Next Week

HTC is bringing its Desire 820 smartphone to the Australian market, announcing it is set to launch with Optus next week.Aimed at the mid-range market, the Desire 820 will initially be available through Optus, with other retailers to follow soon after.

Decked out for multi-media and mobile entertainment, it sports a 5.5″ HD (720 x 1280) display and BoomSound front-facing speakers, designed to deliver “big-screen entertainment without compromise” for videos and games.

Under the hood, the Desire 820, which runs Android with HTC Sense, is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor, comes with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage, expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card, and features Cat 4 4G connectivity.

The Desire 820 sports a 13 MP main camera and 8 MP front-facing camera, with HTC’s Eye Experience software, including functions such as Live Makeup, which allows users to preview the image and set the desired level of skin smoothing before capturing, designed to enhance the imaging experience.

Launching in Australia in tuxedo grey, the Desire 820 features a two-tone colour unibody, with the colour trims around the camera, buttons and flash merging “seamlessly into one another creating a slick look”.

The Desire 820 will be available for purchase from Optus from 2 March, online or in-store. It carries a price tag of $499 RRP, and can be purchased on any 24-month Optus My Plan Plus.
